2021.07.17PHA degradable materials
Microbial fermentation synthesis of degradable plastics refers to the use of specific microorganisms to raw organic matter as food, through fermentation synthesis of polymer plastics.
Microbial synthetic polymer materials mainly include microbial polyester and microbial polysaccharide, among which the typical Polyhydroxyalkanoic acid (ester) - PHA.
The general structural formula and molecular formula of PHA are shown in the figure above, in which R is n-alkyl side chain, ranging from methyl to nonyl, and N is about 700-12000. PHA materials are divided into different PHA according to the length of R group, comonomer and chain in the molecular chain.
PHA is a kind of thermoplastic crystalline polymer material, which is mainly extracted from organisms with high purity and high optical rotation.
2) Thermal stability
The thermal stability is poor, and the heat resistance is different with the different monomer units and the different connection mode between monomer units.
The glass conversion temperature is between - 30 ℃ and 0 ℃, the melting point is between 98 ℃ and 160 ℃, the thermal decomposition temperature is above 185 ℃, and it decomposes rapidly at 250 ℃, so the processing range is narrow. It is difficult to process.
Thermal degradation, hydrolysis, environmental degradation, enzyme degradation

PHA products are mainly PHA masterbatch.
The company is committed to the production and application development of polyhydroxybutyrate co valerate (PHBV). The fermentation facility is located in Beilun port, Ningbo City, the people's Republic of China, with an annual capacity of 2000 metric tons.Since its establishment in 2000, it is recognized as the largest PHBV manufacturer with an annual capacity of 2000 metric tons. In 2004, it became the first company in the world to use water-based extraction technology to realize the commercial production of PHBV, and successfully obtained patents in the world. The main PHA products are bio based and biodegradable, so they can meet the needs of today's environmentally conscious companies looking for environmentally friendly solutions.
Newlight began in 2003. In its early days, it discovered that microbes in the ocean use air and greenhouse gases to make a substance called PHB every day: a fusible energy storage material that can be used to replace things such as plastics and leather. Due to the immature technology, after ten years of efforts, in August 2013, the company launched the technology on a large scale for the first time: using microorganisms in the ocean to produce PHB, air and methyl greenhouse gases dissolved in brine.
In the next two years, he won many awards, including Novartis College annual biomechanics award, Technology Pioneer Award, new energy Pioneer Award, etc.
In 2014, the company developed a kind of "air carbon" plastic, which can not only purify greenhouse gas waste emissions, but also come from greenhouse gas itself, and use greenhouse gas as a resource to help solve plastic pollution and climate change.
Straws, tableware, glasses and leather, no animal and no crop protein
It is understood that the company is planning to launch textiles for biomedical and personal care applications.
